Shallow focus, my BFF

I recently got to knock off #67 Research and buy a new shallow focus lens!  Nicole, who I've mentioned before, is doing this same goals and blogging thing and she had such beautiful pictures of spinach in this blog post!  So she told me what kind of lens she was using and it happened to be extremely inexpensive so I jumped on it!  It's a 50mm fixed lens, meaning instead of zooming, you just have to move yourself closer or further away, which makes you look like a fool sometimes, which I like.  But it gets amazing shallow focus, which is the absolute best thing about photographs in my mind.  I sort of hate pictures that have everything in focus (which I understand is most of the pictures I put on here- those are from my phone camera, alright?)

SO here are some pictures I took recently with my new lens.  They happen to feature my new baby nephew, Landon.

(I wrote this a while ago and had never posted it?  So here it is.  My "new baby nephew Landon" now looks like this...)

He was wearing his birthday suit in celebration of my birthday?  Very thoughtful, Land-o.
